Diablo 4 will come out in June, which is still this year. This means that the long-awaited dungeon-crawling RPG is almost here, and from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the series will be back to its old self.
In the almost 11 years since Diablo 3 came out, a lot has changed. For one, we have much more powerful hardware, which is clear from how good Diablo 4 looks and how big its open world is. This is still the Diablo you know and love, but it looks like everything has been updated.
Last year, we got a few sneak peeks at Diablo 4, which gave us 10 hours of hands-on time with the beta. We came to the conclusion that Diablo 4 brings the fun of killing demons and collecting loot into the 2020s. Now that we know a lot about Diablo 4, here’s what we know so far about the game.
Diablo 4: Cut to the chase
- What is it? The next installment in the beloved RPG series
- When can I play it? June 6, 2023
- What can I play it on? Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
DIABLO 4 RELEASE DATE AND PLATFORMS
Diablo 4 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on June 6, 2023. This was shown in a new trailer that was shown at The Game Awards 2022. This makes it hard for the game to stand out, since Final Fantasy 16 is also coming out that month.
Fans will be happy to hear that they won’t have to wait too long to play Diablo 4. The game had been talked about for years before it was finally announced. After that, it took a long time to find out when it would come out. As of right now, Blizzard is aiming for June 6, 2023, but this could change. This page will be changed if it does. Diablo 4 isn’t going to be available on Xbox Game Pass when it comes out, but it could be added later.
DIABLO 4 TRAILERS
Latest trailer
Along with the news of an upcoming beta period, the latest Diablo 4 trailer was shown. It’s actually the game’s opening cinematic, which shows us what to expect from the main story.
Before, Diablo 4 footage was mostly about setting the mood of the game. This intro, on the other hand, is taken from the first hour of the game. What’s most interesting is that your character in the game will be the one in the cutscene. This is a new part of the Diablo series, and depending on the player, it should help make things feel more unique. Look at it here:

DIABLO 4 STORY AND SETTING
After Malthael, the Angel of Death, destroyed a lot of Sanctuary, the gates to heaven were shut. Lilith is let out of her prison because Heaven doesn’t know what’s going on in Sanctuary.
In an interview with AusGamers, Luis Barriga, who is in charge of Diablo 4’s game, and John Mueller, who is in charge of the game’s art, talked about the big plans the team has for Diablo 4 and its expansions. With Lilith as the main villain instead of Diablo, Mueller has said that there will be more to tell than this, with more characters and stories that could be told in expansions:
“The first chapter of a book is like Diablo IV. We want to tell a big story, and we want to do it for a long time, if we can. If you think of this as the first chapter of a book and look at Lilith as the main character, it’s great to know that all these other characters could still show up in the future. Or, new people we’ve never met before.”
We also know that Diablo 4 will move away from Diablo 3’s conversation panes. Instead, it uses a mix of tool-generated and choreographed camera angles, which should improve both simple and complex NPC interactions. Some of the most important plot points in Diablo 4 happen during real-time cutscenes, and the transition back to player-controlled gameplay is smoother.
DIABLO 4: GAMEPLAY
There are five different areas, each with its own day/night cycle and weather that is always changing. Missions don’t have to be done in a certain order, and you can do them however you want. Players can join each other in the same world at any time.
At BlizzCon 2021, we talked to Diablo 4’s art director, John Mueller, and lead designer, Joe Shely. This gave us a chance to learn more about how the series will change to an open world and how it will work, especially since “each of its five regions is up to 10 times bigger than any of those in Diablo 3.”
There is a system called “Camps,” which lets players find enemy camps in the open world. Mueller says, “Every camp the designers have made is different; there are always cool little scriptures, lore bits, and other things like that.” Getting rid of the enemies in these camps frees the people of Sanctuary and shows how this world works. Players can also use mounts to get around the open world quickly.
Like the other games in the series, you’ll spend a lot of time in dungeons, which will be made randomly, like in Diablo 3.
During BlizzCon 2021, we also got a deep look at some of the PvP parts of Diablo 4. In the Fields of Hatred, which are part of the main game’s open world and have a mix of PvE and PvP gameplay, you can choose to play PvP. When you enter these places, there’s. Players can kill each other, but they also have to deal with monsters and can work together.
The purpose of the Fields of Hatred is to collect pieces of hate. You can get these by killing other players or monsters or doing less violent things. If you die, you could lose these shards, so you’ll need to take them to an altar to clean them and lock them in. Once they are cleansed, Shards of Hatred can be spent at special vendors, so there is a reason to collect them. Getting them is risky but pays off in the end.
DIABLO 4 CLASSES
Diablo 4 has five character classes when it first comes out. The Barbarian is back, and this time he can use both two-handed and one-handed weapons. He also has four weapon slots. The Sorceress has attacks that affect the whole battlefield and turn her into a ball of energy that burns enemies. The Druid can shapeshift and can also have NPC animal friends. The Rogue can be built in both close-quarters and long-range ways, and the Necromancer can raise skeleton allies to fight against enemies.
We also know that skills and talents will change a lot in Diablo 4. All the branches of the skill tree have skills and ways to improve skills, while the roots have powerful passive effects. As you gain levels, you’ll earn skill points that you can spend in the “Skills” section at the top of the tree. This gives you access to new skills and extra features for them, as well as Passive Points in the lower Passive section.
